Fun to Write Tip: How
to Start Writing A Book
By Donna Monday
You've decided to write a book.
Congratulations.
Now what?
Well, here's
the part that requires a real commitment. Writing your first book
can be a little intimidating if you're only looking at the big
picture. Right now all you see is this HUGE writing project that
you've decided to take on, and, I bet it's already beginning to
feel a bit impossible.
How will you
find the time to sit, and think, and ponder over exactly what
words you want to put down on that blank piece of paper?
How do you know
if you should be writing your own book anyway, given that there
are so many talented writers out there in the marketplace?
I'll give you
the short answer--passion.
I assume you've
already got an idea for writing a book. In my opinion, the only
thing that separates those who follow through, write, and publish
their book idea, and those who don't is--passion.
A healthy passion
for writing YOUR book, is what will
get you through those times when you're tempted to push your book
project aside because of . . . any number of reasons.
It's real easy
to put off writing your first book until everything in your life
is perfect, but when will that happen? Like never. Okay, so you've
gotta find a way to work your book
project INTO your busy life.
A great way to
get started is to grab a day planner and "schedule in"
time to write your book. You are essentially making an appointment
with yourself to do nothing during this time but focus on your
book.
Now you've got
two things going for you as a new author: passion, and a committed
block of writing time.
See? That wasn't
so hard, was it?
Okay, now start
working on your opening paragraph.
